“Hey, you want to go out for lunch?” Leo asks, poking her head into the guest room. I’m sprawled out on the carpet with my laptop, screenwriting-craft books, and the last draft of my shooting script––the title of which the producer and I still cannot settle on. I like Love is More Thicker. But he keeps pushing for Your Heart in Mine. He calls it a “crowd pleaser.” I call it cliché.

Anyway, I look up at Leo and say, “Shouldn’t I pick something up since you’re not even supposed to be standing right now?”

“You’re taking the term ‘bed rest’ way too literally.”

I cock my head. “Am I?”

“Please,” she whines, bouncing her foot on the floor. “I’m getting cabin fever. Plus, we have to get out of the house anyway. The security company’s coming to work on the system, and they have to shut the power on and off for a couple of hours.”

I exhale in surrender as I shut my laptop.
